The tradition of this mulled wine comes from the Nürnberg Christkindl-Markt. The famous market is visited every year by millions of people.
Glühwein is produced from grapes grown in nearby vineyards and sweetened with honey provided by the Zeidler’s, a guild dedicated to bee-keeping and bee-breeding in the forests around Nürnberg. Selected spices, which are used to produce Nürnberg’s famous honey-spiced ginger breads, are added to make this Glühwein a delicious hot beverage, especially enjoyed during the colder times of the year.
To prepare, simply pour glühwein into a sauce pan and warm on the stove over low heat (do not boil). Feel free to add a cinnamon stick, honey or orange slice to enhance the flavor.
The Blueberry Gluhwein is known for its hearty spices and fruitiness and is the most popular mulled wine in Germany.
